Fun Fall Activities in the Heber Valley!

By October 4, 2017Blog

Heber Valley is a mountainous paradise year-round. But between the snows of winter and the heat of summer is the magical time of fall – crisp mornings with clear air, the changing colors, and autumn harvest bounty.

The fall activities in Midway, Heber City, and the area will appeal to families, couples and groups of friends, whether their interests are hardcore biking and hiking, or a more leisurely stroll among some the most stunning landscapes in the West.

Take a Walk or Ride on the Wild Side

Hiking and biking are a great way to enjoy the amazing beauty of Heber Valley and area. The mountains and hillsides offer many Utah hiking trails through forests and meadows, with panoramic views. The terrain is varied, ranging from a steep climb up Mount Timpanogos to an easy saunter along the shores of Strawberry Reservoir.

Recreationalists and families might also consider the Dutch Hollow Trail System or Heber Valley Overlook

If you are an experienced biker looking for steep challenges, then Heber Valley area will rise to the occasion. You can try the black diamond-rated Boneyard, Tsunami or 1000 Turns trail systems. Intermediate riders can wheel along the Coyote Loop.

Soak in the Crater – A Natural Wonder

Imagine soaking in a 90-plus-degree geothermal spring in a one-of-a-kind crater formed from limestone, more than 10,000 years in the making. Pretty amazing, right? The hole at the top of the beehive-shaped rock lets in sun and fresh air as you splash in the heated waters.

Available by advance reservation only, the Homestead Crater allows visitors access through a ground-level tunnel. Inside they can soak in the crystal-clear mineral waters or go swimming, diving or snorkeling in the only warm scuba diving location in the continental USA. Paddleboard yoga classes are also available.

Your Railway to the Holiday Season

In late fall, people’s minds start turning to Christmas. To put yourself in the mood, the Heber Valley Railroad starts running its North Pole Express in November – a 90-minute trip that features Christmas carols, hot cocoa, Mrs. Claus’s chocolate chip cookies, souvenir mugs and special presents from Santa.

Earlier in the fall season, you can take the Pumpkin Train, which includes a tour of a haunted car.

If pumpkins put you in the Halloween mood, then it’s worth a trip to the Kohler Creamery hay maze and pumpkin patch. The VIP package will allow you to enjoy the sights and sounds of a working dairy farm, to navigate the challenging hay maze, and have ice cream and a pumpkin as a reward for making it out.
