Fall continues to set in the Heber Valley, and residents and visitors are looking forward to all the fun Halloween festivities. There are plenty of exciting family activities in the area that will help you and your family get into the spirit of the season.
Here are five fun Halloween activities to make memories at during your visit to Heber Valley at the Homestead Resort.
1 – Homestead Family Fall Festival
The Fall Festival will include something for everyone. Take a walk through the Scarecrows and vote on your favorite. Visit the pumpkin patch to pick out one for carving. Have some lunch and enjoy the music. Wander through the farmer’s market and pick up some goodies. Listen to live music from Acoustic Echo. Perfect fall afternoon at the Homestead! Activities include: pumpkin patch, scarecrow salk, farmers market, live music and a la carte BBQ. Come enjoy a fun afternoon at Homestead Resort on Saturday, October 20th from 2:00pm – 6:00pm.
2 – Heber Valley Railroad: Wizard’s Train
Any Harry Potter fan would love to experience the two-hour train ride on the Wizard’s Train. On our valley’s famous train, you’ll be entertained by staff members in full costume with fun things like trivia, photo opportunities and some Harry Potter-themed surprises for you and your family. You’ll also be able to experience what it’s like to go home as a real wizard by purchasing some licensed Harry Potter wands during your train ride! If you want to capture your family Halloween outing, photos with the characters start at 6:30 pm and the train ride goes from 7 pm to 9 pm on October 19th, 22nd, 26th, and 29th.
3 – Kohler Creamery: Hay Maze & Pumpkin Patch
There’s something about the fun of hay and corn stalks in Halloween mazes that kids find irresistible, and you can make a day of it at Kohler Creamery. With over 100 bales of hay on the working dairy farm, Kohler Creamery represents fall in Utah at its finest in crisp air and beautiful mountain scenery. After the family makes it through the maze, you can select a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch to take home with you. The maze and pumpkin patch are open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm until October 31st.
4 – Cheese Tasting: Heber Valley Artisan Cheese
If you love cheese, then a cheese tasting at Heber Valley Artisan Cheese is just the thing you need to do during your visit. You even can sample new cheeses before they are available to the public!
You’ll also be able to spend time with the cheese-makers themselves and ask any questions you might have about the process, cheese pairings and more. For even more cheesy fun, you can go behind the scenes to see how the whole business works. Tastings are available on October 26th at 6 pm and then again at 7:30 pm.
5 – Nightwalk Haunted House
For those of you who really want to get into the Halloween spirit with the adrenaline rush that comes from being scared out of your wits, the Nightwalk Haunted House is the perfect destination. This haunted house is legendary in Utah, and this Halloween the theme is phobias, which includes things like spiders, dolls, clowns, puppets, insects, tight spaces, and more. It takes about 30 to 40 minutes to go through the whole house, and is open on October 12th, 13th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 25th, 26th, 27th and 31st from 7pm to 11pm.
