The Homestead Resort in the Winter

By December 13, 2018Blog

The weather is cooling down in Utah and with the change comes more opportunities to enjoy yourself in the Heber Valley and at Homestead Resort.. We’ve got more than a few reasons to spend your next vacation in the snow. Winter in Heber Valley is filled with gorgeous  scenery and plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy… Here are just a few reasons why  Homestead Resort is the perfect home base for your  winter escape.

Dashing Through the Snow

A ride in a horse-drawn buggy or sleigh is  a great way to see the stunning views of the Wasatch Mountains and Heber Valley. Just a few minutes from Homestead Resort is Wasatch State Park where you can rent snowshoes for an afternoon adventure. The park also offers night time snowshoes when the moon is full.  If modern modes of transportation are more your style, you can explore the trails by snowmobile.

Midway Ice Castles

Ice Castles is an awe-inspiring, must-see winter phenomenon that brings fairy tales to life. The frozen attraction is located on the driving range at Homestead Resort’s golf course. The experience is built using hundreds of thousands of icicles hand-placed by professional ice artists. The castles include breathtaking LED-lit sculptures, frozen thrones, ice-carved tunnels, slides, fountains and more.

Crystal Clear Mineral Springs

The Homestead Crater is the only warm scuba diving location anywhere in the continental U.S. The crater lies beneath a natural limestone dome with an opening at the top, allowing natural sunlight to cascade down to the clear, warm mineral waters below. The water remains at a constant temperature of 90 – 96 degrees, ideal for a winter dip.. You will discover custom-built decks and a soaking area where you can go swimming, scuba diving, or snorkeling. A therapeutic soak or paddleboard yoga class are the perfect way to unwind.

Superb Dining

Heartwarming meals made using local ingredients are a specialty at Homestead Resort. You can eat dinner in style at Simon’s Restaurant where mouth-watering steak and seafood dishes are served by our welcoming staff. You can settle in by a crackling fire while you take in the views from our nostalgic dining room. For breakfast and lunch, visit Fanny’s Grill, where you can enjoy homestyle favorites and comfort food while catching the big game on TV.

Kids Love It

Imagine a family vacation where the kids will never be bored. Utah offers a winter wonderland with tons of family-friendly activities including: Midway Ice Castles,  skiing, ice-skating, and horse-drawn sleigh sleigh rides. It’s more economical than Park City, including attractions such as Heber Creeper and Soldier Hollow Tubing Hill close by.

Whether it’s a romantic getaway or a family vacation, we invite you to discover the beauty of Utah at the Homestead Resort in winter.
